VANCOUVER COMBAT ROBOTICS — FIRST ARENA RUN
WHAT HAPPENED: Early weapon system failure resulted in no weapon for nearly the entire first round match. Driving was strong, but without a weapon, Ghost Viper was unable to move on to the next round.
RESULT: Driving experience, exposure to first real battle scenario, full systems test with mechanical issues identified.
LESSONS LEARNED: Learned how to troubleshoot to find root cause of weapon system malfunction. Learned the importance of test, test, retest.

VANCOUVER COMBAT ROBOTICS — PROVING GROUND
WHAT HAPPENED: Weapon system fully functional and updated wheels for better grip and maneuverability. Designed and 3D printed wheel covers for protection.
RESULT: Won first 2 rounds and survived the 3-way final championship round against mature bots. The other 2 bots were clearly well-designed and driven. Late in the round, a hammer saw delivered a crushing blow that severed the weapon system wiring as well as the right wheel wiring. Bot was still mobile with the left wheel, but functionality was severely limited.
LESSONS LEARNED: Need to bolster protection on the top of the bot over any drives, battery, wiring. Need to have cleaner wire management and consider protective sleeve around it. Learned that driving is incredibly important, as early round driving allowed the bot to evade weapon hits and inflict targeted damage.
